I’d Rather Be Your Friend
'I'd Rather Be Your Friend' is the new album of KW singer songwriter Sarah Pearson, for which I designed the graphics. The subject of the cover is a water lily growing up and blossoming, on a geometrical and lively background. The images are digitally modified versions of a picture I shot, a few years back, in the botanical garden of Padova, my hometown. Padova's botanical garden is the hidden and well protected cerebellum of this medieval town. Conceived half a millennium ago to service the Faculty of Medicine, it grew its rationally geometrical shapes at the feet of the boisterous Byzantine architecture of Sant'Antonio cathedral. Today, it seduces the curious with the silence cast by its centennial trees, with its exotic carnivorous plants kept in warm greenhouses, with a 400 year old palm tree blessed by Goethe's name. Coming back to the album, the original pictures featured in the cover was shot in 2012 with a canon EOS 350D probably mounting one of my parents' Yashica manual lenses. You can listen and buy Sarah's music on bandcamp, and read more about her creative process on her website . Enjoy!
