Corsica GR20 2016 – Conza to Bocca à Verghju
End of September, the ferry docks in Portivecchju early in the morning. The night had been clear, embroidered of trembling stars suspended above a smooth Northern Tyrrhenian sea. Leaving Marseille by the sea had been magical, especially so at dusk. End of September, and the Summer is over even in Corsica. I think of this, while looking for a discontinued bus service to Conza, where the GR20 starts. At least, this is where it starts for me, for it is where for most people it ends. Hiking from the South has two advantages: it means I'd be walking upstream, which translates in some brief encounters during a mostly solitary trek, and it means the sun would paint its most beautiful colors in front of me, while shining behind me.
